Honorable Minister of Education

Ministry of Education

Government of Botswana

Dear Honorable Minister,

Subject: Petition to Include Tourism and Hospitality Courses in the Budget for Progression Sponsorship

We hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to you as a concerned citizen and stakeholder in the future development of Botswana’s economy, particularly in the context of the tourism and hospitality sectors.

As you are well aware, the Government of Botswana has rightly identified tourism and hospitality as key priority areas for economic diversification and sustainable growth. These sectors have the potential to create numerous job opportunities, contribute significantly to GDP, and promote Botswana as a top travel destination globally. Given this strategic priority, it is imperative that we invest in the education and training of our citizens to build a highly skilled workforce capable of driving and sustaining growth in these industries.

However, it has come to our attention that despite the prioritization of tourism and hospitality courses, they have been omitted from the current budget for sponsorship for progression. This omission stands in stark contrast to our national development goals and could hinder the progress we aim to achieve in these critical sectors.

Therefore, I humbly petition your esteemed office to consider the following points:

1. **Aligning Budget with Strategic Priorities**: Including tourism and hospitality courses in the sponsorship budget will ensure alignment with the government’s stated strategic priorities. This alignment is crucial for the coherent and effective development of the tourism and hospitality sectors.

2. **Building a Competent Workforce**: Sponsorship for progression in these courses will enable our students to acquire advanced skills and knowledge, making them more competitive in the global market. This, in turn, will attract more tourists and investors to Botswana.

3. **Economic Impact**: A well-educated and skilled workforce in tourism and hospitality will contribute significantly to economic growth. This investment in education will pay off through increased employment, higher incomes, and greater economic stability.

4. **National Development**: By supporting the progression of students in these fields, we will be investing in the long-term socio-economic development of Botswana. Education is the cornerstone of national development, and supporting key sectors is a step towards achieving Vision 2036.

In light of the above points, I earnestly request you to reconsider the current budget allocations and include sponsorship for progression in tourism and hospitality courses. This inclusion will not only reflect our commitment to these priority sectors but also empower our youth with the skills and opportunities they need to contribute to the nation’s prosperity.

Thank you for your attention to this crucial matter. I am confident that under your leadership, the Ministry of Education will continue to make strides towards enhancing educational

Regards.
