The Jewellery stores are operating without any control by the Govt. They levy very high wastage and making charges on the ornaments sold to the customers whereas the actual wastage maybe much lower. For most items they charge a wastage of about 25% whereas in reality, it maybe only abou 10% or less. The humongous growth in terms of profit & assets of these jewellery shops within a short time bears witness to the unusually high charges to the customers.

The Govt Of India should control the levy of wastage by the Jewellery firms by specifying a standard wastage limit for different type of ornaments.
