The housing crisis in Ontario is at an all time high. With many families struggling to find affordable housing and the lack of government support is causing a severe situation for thousands of people in Ontario.

COVID has caused an unstable financial environment for all Ontario residents and having to prioritizing basic human needs like food and shelter is becoming very difficult for many.  

This coupled with the dramatic increase in rental costs has made many families wondering what their options are if they are unable to afford their current living situation. 

With this petition we are asking the Ontario Government and Premier Rob Ford to reverse the decisions made by former Liberal Premier,  Daulton McGuinty, and allow Ontario residents to live full time in mobile homes and in mobile home parks. The current law states that you may not live in a mobile home for more than 10 months out of the year leaving thousands of residents looking for a place to stay for 60 days when they already have a perfectly habitual residence they must vacate because they were deemed recreational instead of residential. 

By allowing people to live full time in mobile homes the cost of housing will drop dramatically. Mobile homes can be purchased currently for $30,000 - $100,000 and a park fee of $500 - $800 a month is a reasonable cost to many people looking to get out of their apartments and into their own homes. The amount of apartments available will increase. The amount of low income apartments will increase. The cost of rentals will drop due to lower demand. The amount of houses that will be on the market will increase as people downsize into mobile homes as they age. 

This will help thousands of Ontario families find apartments, own their first home and downsize into an affordable home when they retire. Prices for homes, rental prices for homes, rental prices for apartments and condos will all drop as demand is spread out more evenly and people won’t feel like they will never be able to own their own homes, with their own yards, gardens, decks, porches and driveways. 

This is a fair solution to so many housing problems. So please Premier Ford and other members of the Ontario Government help the less fortunate and those who dream of owning their own homes find peace of mind. Allow more Mobile Home Parks and full time residency in mobile homes. This will cost you nothing and make thousands of people happy and content.
