We write this petition because of the urgent need to speak up against this relentless ethnic cleansing and displacement of Wolkait Tegede Telemt Amhara people.

Historically Wolkait Tegede & Telemt region was an Amhara territory for centuries. Since the 1980’s, Tigray Peoples Liberation Front (TPLF) has forcefully occupied the region and removed indigenous Wolkait, Tegede & Telemt Amhara population from their land and replaced them with new Tigrayan settlers as part of their Greater Tigray secessionist agenda. As a result, the majority Wolkait, Tegede & Telemt Amhara population are in exile living in Sudan, United States, Europe, and Australia. TPLF continues to arrest, displace and deny the existence of the indigenous Wolkait, Tegede & Telemt Amhara and criminalize anyone who voices their objection to the injustice in the region.

In late August and September 2020, TPLF led Tigray regional security forces began a campaign to systematically arrest, kill and drive out the indigenous Wolkait Tegede Telemt Amhara from their homes. These Amhara’s were beaten, interrogated, and tortured for refusing to change their identity, give up their land, and protesting the illegal Tigray region election. Since the illegal Tigray region election, thousands of Wolkait Tegede and Telemt Amhara’s have fled their homes in fear of their lives and sought safety in the Amhara region. All of this is done in an attempt by TPLF Tigray regional authorities to persuade the Wolkait Tegede Telemt people to renounce their Amhara identity and claim Tigrayan identity.

What is happening to the people of Wolkait Tegede & Telemt is a clear violation of their human rights to exist as people, which is guaranteed by the Ethiopian Constitution. The Ethiopian Federal Government was notified of the human rights violation and has remained silent. For this reason, we need your voices to help us speak up against the brutality of TPLF and demand Ethiopia’s government take immediate action.

We respectfully ask the Federal Government of Ethiopia to take the following actions:

1.      Resolve Wolkait, Tegede and Telemt Amhara Identity question before the Ethiopia’s National Election.

2.      Provide immediate military intervention to stop the mass arrests, abuses and killing by TPLF in Wolkait Tegede & Telemt region.

3.      Ensure safe and secure access for Human Rights organizations and independent journalists to Wolkait Tegede & Telemt region.

4.      Allow a right to return of the thousands exiled Wolkait Tegede & Telemt Amharas back to their ancestral homeland safely.

This signature campaign seeks support from Wolkait Tegede Telemt Amhara people living in exile as well as friends of social justice demanding the Federal Government of Ethiopia take immediate action to stop the silent ethnic cleansing and displacement against Wolkait TegedeTelemt Amhara people by TPLF.

የአማራ ብሄርተኝነት የማንነት ጥያቄ አስተባባሪ ኮሚቴዎች የድጋፍ ድምጽ ማሰባሰቢያ

እኛ የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራ ተወላጆች የትግራይ ህወሃት አስተዳደር ብሄራችን አማራ ነው በማለታችን ቀደም ሲል የፈፀሙብንን እና አሁንም እያደረሱብን ያለውን የሰብኣዊ መብት ጥሰት እና የዘር ማጥፋት ድርጊት በመቃወም ለመላው ዓለም ማህበረሰብ በአፋጣኝ ለማሳወቅ የድጋፍ ድምጽ ማሰባሰብ ጀምረናል።

የወልቃይት ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አካባቢ ለዘመናት የአማራ ርስት ስለመሆኑ የተለያዩ የታሪክ መዛግብት ይመሰክራሉ። ከ1980ዎቹ ጀምሮ ህወሃት በጉልበት አካባቢውን በመቆጣጠር ቀደምትተ ነዋሪዎችን ማለትም የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት ነዋሪ አማራዎችን በማፈናቀል በሽዎች የሚቆጠሩ የትግራይ ተወላጆችን በማስፈር ታላቋን ትግራይ የመመስርት የቅዠት አጀንዳቸውን ለማሳካት ሲሰሩ ኖረዋል። በዚህም የተነሳ በርካታ የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራዎች በስደት በጎረቤት ሃገር ሱዳን እንዲሁም ባህር ተሻግረን በአውሮፓ ፣ በአውስትራሊያ ፣ በካናዳ እና በአሜሪካ እንኖራለን። አሁንም ድረስ በአካባቢው የሚገኙ የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራዎችን ህወሃት ማንነታቸውን በመካድ ማሰር እና ማፈናቀሉን ቀጥለውበታል። ይህንንም የተቃወሙትን ንጹሃን የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራዎች ተወላጆች ላይ በሃሰት ክስ ይመሰርታሉ።

በነሃሴ እና በመስከረም ወር 2020 በአውሮፓውያን አቆጣጠር ህወሃት ልዩ ሃይሎችን በማሰማራት
ስልታዊ በሆነና በተቀነባበረ መልኩ በንጹሃን የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራዎችን በማሰር ፣ ከቀያቸው በማፈናቀል እና በመግደል የዘር ማጥፋት ዘመቻ በስፋት ፈጽመዋል። የትግራይ ክልል የሚያካሂደውን ምርጫ ተቃውመው ሰልፍ በመውጣት ድምጻቸውን ያሰሙ ወገኖቻችን ላይ ድብደባ እና እስራት ተፈጽሟል። ይህንንም ተከትሎ ዘግናኝ በሆኑ የምርመራ ዘዴዎች የማሰቃየት ድርጊቶች ተካሂደዋል ፤ የሰብአዊ መብት ጥሰቶች ፈጽመዋል። 

የትግራይ ክልል መንግስት በማን አለብኝነት ምርጫውን ካጠናቀቀ በኋላ በርካታ የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ
እና ጠለምት አማራዎች ለደህንነታቸው በመስጋት ቀያቸዉን ለቀዉ በመሰደድ ወደ አማራ ክልል ተጠግተው ይገኛሉ። ይህም ሁሉ እየሆነ ያለው በአካባቢው ያሉ የህወሃት ትግራይ አስተዳዳሪዎች በሚያደርሱት « የአማራነታችሁን ክዳችሁ ትግሬዎች ነን በሉ የሚል ጫና ነው።

በወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራ ህዝብ ላይ እየተፈፀመ ያለው ድርጊት ከባድ የሰብአዊ መብትጥሰት መሆኑ ግልፅ ነው። ይህም ድርጊት ዜጎች በህገ-መንግስቱ የተሰጣቸውን የሰውነት መብታቸው ተከብሮ የመኖር መብት የጣሰ ነው። የ ኢትዮጵያ ፌደራላዊ ዴሞክራሲያዊ መንግስት ዬህንንና መሰል የሰብአዊ መብት ጥሰቶችን እንዲያውቅ በተለያዬ ጊዜ የማሳወቂያ ደብዳቤዎች ቢላኩም መንግስት ጉዳዩን በቸልተኝነት እና በዝምታ ማለፉን መርጧል። ስለዚህም ይህንን የትግራይ ህወሃት ግፈኛ አስተዳደር ለመቃወምና መንግስት አፋጣኝ እርምጃዎችን እንዲወስድ ተጽእኖ ለማድረግ እኛ የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራ ተወላጆች የእናንተን የወገኖቻችን ድጋፍ እና ድምጽ እንሻለን።

ቀጥለንም መንግስት የሚከተሉትን የመፍትሄ አቅጣጫዎች እንዲከተል ለመጠቆም እንወዳለን፤

1.     የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራ ተወላጆች የአማራ ማንነት ጠያቄያችን ከያገራዊ መረጫ በፊት ምላሽ መስጠት

2.     የሃገር መከላከያን በአካባቢው በማሰማራት የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራ ዜጎች ላይ የሚፈፀመውን ግፍ እና ግድያ እንዲቆም ማድረግ

3.     ለሰብዓዊ መብት ተሟጋች ድርጅቶች እና መንግስታዊ ላልሆኑ የመገናኛ ሚዲያዎች በአካባቢው ሰላምና ደህንነታቸው ተጠብቆ ስራቸውን እንዲሰሩ መንግስት የበኩሉን አስተዋፅኦማድረግ 

4.     ከአካባቢያቸው የተፈናቀሉ የወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራ ተወላጆች በሰላም ወደ ቀያቸው እንዲመለሱ እና ደህንነታቸው ተጠብቆ እንዲኖሩ መንግስት የበኩሉን ድርሻ መወጣት አለበት።

እርስዎም ላለፉት አርባ ዓመታት የህወሃት ቡድን በወልቃይት ፣ ጠገዴ እና ጠለምት አማራ ተወላጆች ላይ ሲፈፅም የኖረዉን ግፍ እና በደል ፤ የሰብኣዊ መብት ጥሰት እንዲሁም የዘር ማጥፋት ድርጊቶችን በመቃዎም የድጋፍ ፊርማዎትን በማኖር ታሪካዊ ድርሻዎትን ይወጡ።
