Right now paid parking in Tauranga city centre is making it difficult for Tauranga residents to access their beautiful waterfront and city centre.   

In December 2022 Tauranga council introduced paid parking near the waterfront and the main city centre streets.  It’s $4 for the first 2 hours and $5 per hour after that, Monday to Saturday between 8am and 6pm.  This is more expensive than many affluent Auckland suburbs! Many local businesses have met many times with various council members to ask for this to be lifted.  Anne Tolley (council chair) has made it clear she does not want this to happen.
