Story now featured in the scottish daily mail(18/11/2024) ml My name is Felicity Heather and i’m currently pregnant with my second baby in scotland. i was diagnosed with Hypermesis gravidarum in my first pregnancy, i lost 10kg from how sick i was being, i was in the hospital almost every day I could manage to make it out of bed for sickness injections. The medications prescribed by the doctors and the sickness injections didn’t and still don’t make the slightest difference. If anything they make it worse. I was never once told that if you have hg in one pregnancy you’re more than likely going to get it again. Pregnancy is supposed to be a beautiful wonderful experience that only women are blessed to receive but my beautiful experience has yet again been stolen from me. That’s when i heard of Xonvea. A newer medication specifically made for pregnancy sickness. I heard so many mums from England saying it gave them their life back, it made pregnancy what pregnancy is supposed to be. a blessing. not a curse. The beautiful experience it is supposed to be. But after a frustrating and honestly heart crushing phone call with my doctor, i was told that it isn’t available in scotland… To know that there’s a miracle medication out there that could give me my life back, make this pregnancy enjoyable and make me able to get out of bed and play with my one year old but to be denied because of where you live is the most soul crushing thing ever. The Scottish medicines Consortium decided that the manufacture of Xonvea didn’t have enough proof that it works. After a mere week of research i’ve learned that there’s countless mums from england and america who have shared their stories with xonvea with me, who had been on the 3 prochlorperazine, ondasetron and cyclizine and hadn’t helped them either. But xonvea did. In england Xonvea is now one of the first line medications they give to pregnant women suffering with sickness now. I’ve started this petition help other mums with hg in scotland like me feel that they matter. Because we do. If our midwife’s and doctors and health visitors aren’t going to fight for us then who is? Being female we have to fight to be heard, for our right to be human. it’s 2024. Things should be different for us by now.
