We ask Norwich City Council to agree to name all the streets on the new Mile Cross development in celebration of women.

The lack of representation of women in our street names is an international issue. In Europe, 91% of streets named after people are named after men. In London, the statistic is virtually the same at 87%. In Mile Cross, out of 38 streets named after people, 37 bear the names of men and just one a woman.

Norwich women have a  proud history of making change in our city and beyond. Naming streets on the new estate for women's lives and achievements would also send a clear message that Norwich City Council believes in equality and recognition for all its citizens.
