Unjust criteria for GCSE and Alevel grading 2020

In these unprecedented times where end of year exams are not possible, we need a just system to award students with their deserved GCSE and Alevel qualification grade. I’d like to petition against the use of mock grades being taken into account as part of the grading criteria because:

1) Exams are not externally moderated. Some even being ‘walking talking mocks’ where a teacher would go through the paper with the student.

2) Students are not given consistent papers across the schools. With some schools using papers much harder than others.

3) Between mocks and exams intensive support is put in by teachers to focus on areas that need to be developed.

4) Mocks are advertised as providing guide to find out where intervention is needed, not to be taken as a final grade.

I propose that grades are taken solely from predicted grades, profession judgement and coursework. Taking into account the schools data from previous years, seeing how students usually progress from assessments to end of year exams. This system will give all student their deserved grades and allow them to progress into the next steps of their lives, whether that be university, apprenticeships or a career.
