Dear mr Gavin Williamson, I am writing as a very concerned anxious parent . I feel the current year 11s are very disadvantaged to proceed with exams in 2021 as they were not taught by professionals (teachers ) face to face during their most important year of gcse study . This will put them at a great disadvantage in their exams next year , as I strongly feel they have not enough time to catch up with learning . I appreciate the government is delaying exams next year , however , by 3 weeks !!! When they have missed out on 5 months of face to face teaching by professionals due to a pandemic, which is no fault of their own . I also have studied the content of the reduced curriculum and quite frankly this doesn’t amount to much ! I strongly feel the government should not be putting young people’s futures at risk by pushing them to do exams when so much face to face learning has been missed . Also disrupted learning with year groups having to isolate which is on going due to Covid . I feel the only fair way forward is for teacher assessment, where their teachers can grade them as they know them best and their capability’s !!! Please I beg you to follow suit with Scotland and Wales , otherwise I feel our youngsters futures have been stolen from a government that hasn’t listened to parents and students ( bearing in mind I’ve written before , to no avail) This year group are far more disadvantaged than last year as the disruption is still happening across the country ! So please listen and do the right thing for our young learners !
Kind Regards ,
