Experienced LVN/LPN to be able to challenge RN exam in California and the entire U.S.

Experienced LVN/LPN to be able to challenge RN exam in California and the entire U.S.
The Issue
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 (Coronavirus) healthcare crisis California and the United States are suffering during these unprecedented times. There’s a huge need for experienced nurses, specifically there’s need of Registered Nurses (RN).
For a long time Licensed Vocational Nurses (LVN) and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN) have been underestimated despite the fact that an experienced LVN/LPN performs at the same level as an RN, most of the time providing support and guidance to their new graduate RN counterparts.
A lot of experienced outpatient clinic LVNs/LPNs have been laid off or asked to go home due to the ongoing crisis. The outpatient clinics are closing their doors or canceling non-urgent medical procedures and appointments.
Experienced LVNs/LPNs can’t work at many California and U.S. hospitals due to the limited scope of practice of their licenses. Some other LVNs/LPNs that are currently still working would like to volunteer and do more but they can’t due to the limited scope of practice of their licenses.
I hereby ask for the President of the United States and the governor of the State of California to consider for the wellbeing of his constituents to issue an Executive Order that allows LVNs/LPNs with 5 or more years of experience with a current unrestricted LVN/LPN license to challenge the Board of Registered Nursing Exam to obtain their RN license in order to do more and provide the urgently needed help to fight this pandemic.
It makes NO sense that we do have experienced nurses sitting idle just because of archaic rules and regulations.
