For too many years, women with Polyendocrine Metabolic Ovary Syndrome (PMOS) or as it was previously named (PCOS) have quietly suffered, battling constant weight struggles and related health complications. This struggle is one many of us have internalized, often blaming ourselves due to the lack of effective treatment solutions and understanding from the public and healthcare providers.

Wegovy (Semaglutide)  a groundbreaking medication, offers hope. It's not just another treatment—it's a life-changing breakthrough that can significantly improve the lives of those living with PMOS. It aids in weight management, which is a crucial aspect of managing PMOS symptoms and reducing associated risks like diabetes, heart disease, and infertility.

However, the prohibitive cost of Wegovy makes this vital medication inaccessible to many who need it most. Currently, it’s not included in the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) in Australia, making it unaffordable for countless families and individuals already dealing with the emotional and financial burdens of this syndrome.

In Australia, where the prevalence of PMOS affects approximately 12-21% of women of reproductive age, according to the Jean Hailes Foundation’s Women's Health Survey, the need for supported treatments like Wegovy is urgent.
