Fund and Focus More On Mental Health Care In The Community

The Issue

Sadly, 1 in 4 people will be affected by a mental health problem of some kind in their lifetime. A quarter of us. For some of them it resolves, for some of them its chronic and never does, but for ALL of them its probably one of the hardest parts of the entire life.

The Community Mental Health Teams (CMHTs) are simply not fit for purpose. I can say this, unfortunately, from life long experience.

Naturally I understand, the CMHTs and the NHS are funded by the taxpayer and every purse, even one of a government in a country like the UK has its restrictions, and I also understand that the CMHTs are creaking under the pressure that they are under because they are vastly underfunded, understaffed and their caseload is phenomenal.

My point is lives are being lost because of it, thats a tragedy. You cannot put a price on a life. The people that struggle on every day should simply NOT have to go through the pain and suffering, and it absolutely is suffering, because the mental health and crisis teams cant afford to treat them and they are so short of doctors they get seen by the CMHT doctor once a month or less.

This is only going to get worse. Central Government need to put MORE funding into mental health services. We need MORE appointments. We need MORE and IMPROVED access to urgent and crisis psychiatric care. We need more.

This needs to change immediately. How many tragic deaths and how much more suffering are the government prepared to allow before they do something.

They could look at it, amongst other ways, like this: FUND the treatment that is desperately needed, yes it will cost several billion pounds extra a year but with better funding, better care and better treatment overall, theres a very good chance that people CAN feel better, CAN feel well and maybe, for those who dont already, CAN WORK and contribute tax into the system.

I think they will find within 10 years they are better off.

Please support this. Together we CAN make a difference!
