“Free Our Accounts: Stop Unfair Instagram and Facebook Accounts Disabling Now!
The Issue
✊🏽 PETITION: Tell Instagram to Create a Fairer Account Verification & Appeal System
To: Meta Platforms, Inc. (Instagram Team)
From: Global Instagram Users Who’ve Lost Their Voices Without Warning
📢 The Problem:
Millions of users rely on Instagram and Facebook to document their lives, grow their businesses, connect with loved ones, and express themselves. Yet, countless accounts are being disabled without clear explanation, without fair evidence, and with no practical path to restoration.
Photos, memories, clients, testimonials, years of content—gone in an instant.
❓Why is this happening?
Instagram’s current policy allows for accounts to be permanently disabled for:
“Violating community guidelines”
“Suspicious activity”
“Inauthentic behavior”
…but with no transparent explanation, no human appeal, and no recovery process that respects user identity.
⚖️ What We’re Demanding:
We believe Instagram must put fairness before automation.
We ask for a more humane, transparent, and accessible appeal process, and propose the following:
—Accept National ID cards as valid proof of identity for individual users.
—Allow photo verification (users holding ID cards or business certificates).
—Verify accounts by utility bills & real-world location checks, where needed.
—Provide clear, human-readable explanations for account disabling decisions.
—Let individuals, small businesses and creators recover content, even if their accounts are not reinstated.
🧠 We’re Not Against Rules — We’re Against Injustice.
We respect the importance of community standards. But there must be balance.
Automation should not override humanity. Verification should not be punishment.
📌 We call on Instagram to:
—Listen to your users.
—Acknowledge the real impact of unjust bans.
—Work with communities to develop fairer systems.
✍️ Sign this petition if you believe in a fairer Instagram.
Let’s reclaim our memories, our voices, our accounts.
