Lake Don T. Howell is a beautiful body of water in Cabarrus County that with proper management and safeguards could be a wonderful spot for paddling, rowing, and fishing from small electric, non-polluting motor boats. 

If invasive species are a concern, mitigation methods such as a boat cleaning station could be used. Such systems can be purchased and paid for using a fee schedule and/or possible grants written by the county for such purposes. 

We feel this initiative will only enhance the recreational lives of Cabarrus County residents who will be able to paddle, canoe, fish, paddle board, and enjoy a watery treasure in our own backyard.
