Force TikTok to Permanently Ban Users Encouraging Harmful Behaviors

The Issue

As someone who has spent a lifetime dealing with addiction and its toll, it's disheartening to witness a grown woman, Lisa Richard, use TikTok as a playground for destructive behavior. Not only is she actively battling addiction, but she is also employing this social media platform to inflict self-harm and harass others. Her actions aren't just causing distress to her self but is also causing  significant risk to recovering addicts who may be triggered by such harmful content but let also enforce this before TikTok gets hit with a lawsuit for allowing this person to threaten and self harm and also dox her self and other people. She is not just harmful to her self but is in-fact a public safety risk to our youth in the internet and to those she talks about harming as she tries to kill her self daily with her addiction and then hold the innocent people who try to help her accountable for awful things to happen to her Lisa is always threatening and using manipulative tactics and coercion  who are mentally drained and blame them selves TikTok is truly taking a safe place and causing many to be emotionally abused by Lisa's Richards.

TikTok has banned her several times, but never permanently, illustrating a glaring loophole in its moderation policies. This opens doors for her to continually harass people, even children as young as 18 and under, contributing to a toxic environment that defies TikTok's purpose to inspire creativity and bring joy. Moreover, she has been linked to fraudulent activities by using false aliases, adding another another prominent   issue.

Research shows that 76 percent of people aged 12-35 use TikTok globally, making it an influential platform amongst the youth (Datareportal, 2021). Unfortunately, with this influence comes the potential for harm if users abuse the platform to promote addictive behavior, fraud, and harassment. Thus, it is crucial that TikTok amends its moderation policies to permanently ban users encouraging harmful behaviors.

We urge you to show your support by signing this petition. It is imperative that we ensure the safety of our children, recovering addicts, and the community as a whole. Permanent bans should be enforced on those who misuse the platform to the detriment of others, causing emotional and psychological harm. Together, we can make a safer cyberspace. Please, sign the petition today.
