For the burnside council to build a dirt jump park
The issue
Petition for a Dedicated Mountain Bike Jump Park in the City of Burnside
We, the undersigned, are calling on the City of Burnside to plan and build a dedicated mountain bike jump park and skills area for the local community.
Burnside currently has no permanent mountain bike jump park or dirt jump facility, meaning local riders often have to travel long distances to other council areas to enjoy the sport. Many riders visit facilities at places such as Craigburn Farm, Eagle Mountain Bike Park, Fox Creek Bike Park, and Aston Hills because there is no equivalent facility within Burnside.
Not everyone has access to transport, so some riders are left with no choice but to build makeshift jumps in parks or bushland or ride in unsuitable areas. This can be dangerous, may damage the environment, and creates ongoing maintenance issues.
Many councils across South Australia and Australia have recognised the growing popularity of mountain biking and have invested in purpose-built jump parks, pump tracks, and trail networks. These facilities provide safe places for people to ride, encourage healthy and active lifestyles, attract visitors, and create positive spaces for young people. Burnside should not be left behind while neighbouring councils continue to invest in modern recreation facilities.
A professionally designed jump park would:
Provide a safe place for riders of all ages and skill levels.
Reduce unsafe homemade jumps and environmental damage.
Encourage physical activity, mental wellbeing, and outdoor recreation.
Give young people a positive place to meet, learn new skills, and stay active.
Support local businesses by attracting visitors from surrounding areas.
Add another high-quality recreational facility for the Burnside community.
This project is important to me and many others because mountain biking is more than just a sport—it builds confidence, resilience, fitness, and friendships. We believe Burnside deserves a safe, purpose-built facility that allows local riders to enjoy their passion without having to travel far or take unnecessary risks.
By signing this petition, you are supporting the creation of a dedicated mountain bike jump park in the City of Burnside and encouraging the Council to invest in a facility that will benefit current and future generations.
