Thank you in advance ♥️ **FiXProp19 to Save Our Children's Future / Save Prop13 Petitions https://forcalifornians.com/petition As a lifelong Californian, I have experienced firsthand the severe financial consequences of Proposition 19. The drastic increase in property taxes makes it unaffordable for many, including myself, to hold onto property we've cherished for generations. I'm calling on fellow Californians and lawmakers to join us in fixing Proposition 19 and alleviating this heavy burden on property owners.
Proposition 19, which passed in November 2020, was initially promoted to offer benefits to wildfire victims, the disabled, and older homeowners. However, it also eliminated critical protections provided by Proposition 58 and Proposition 193, especially affecting inherited property, causing unsuspected tax hikes for many California families. The promise of Prop 19 was misleading since it disproportionately increased the tax burden for a vast number of residents who simply want to keep family homes, farmland, or businesses within their families.
For instance, prior to Prop 19, families could inherit property without facing dramatic tax increases. Under the new law, many families now face the impossible choice: shoulder massive tax increases or sell their family homes. This situation impacts not only individuals but entire communities, disrupting our local economies and fragmenting the generational heritage that many of us value deeply.
There is a pressing need to address these disparities. We urge the California State Legislature to consider the adverse impacts this proposition has imposed and work towards restoring the protections that once enabled residents to keep what they rightfully own, without punitive tax consequences.
By Fixing Proposition 19, we can restore property tax fairness in California, maintain our community integrity, and allow future generations to benefit from their family legacies. I urge you to stand with us in this fight.
Please sign this petition to demand Fixing Proposition 19 and bring justice and fairness back to California property owners. Your support can make a difference in our collective struggle to preserve our homes and heritage. Sign today!
