Imagine growing up with no safe place to play. In Cadder, that's the reality for the children who have lost their playground due to neglect and damage. For several years, Cadder Park, a once safe community space, has been left to decay following a fire. The Multi-Use Games Area (MUGA), a crucial venue for school activities and community gatherings, is in dire condition with massive holes in the ground, presenting significant safety hazards.

For the families living in the Cadder area, this is not just a playground; it is a lifeline for community engagement and childhood development. The absence of a safe, functional space means the children of Cadder are deprived of essential recreational activities crucial for their physical and mental well-being.

Studies consistently show the importance of play in child development. Physical activity helps children build social skills, enhances their creativity, and supports their overall health. Enhancing recreational spaces is directly linked to increased physical activity and community well-being.

I am calling on our local councillors and community leaders in Glasgow city council  to prioritize the restoration and repair of Cadder Park and the MUGA. By doing so, we can provide our children and community with a safe, nurturing environment for growth and play.
