Fire RFK Jr.—Stop the Politicization of Public Health
The Issue
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. should never have been put in charge of the nation’s public health system. Now, after attempting to oust CDC Director Dr. Susan Monarez for refusing to follow reckless political directives, it’s clear: he must be removed immediately.
Dr. Monarez, a Senate-confirmed expert in biomedical innovation, stood her ground when pressured to endorse unscientific policies and fire respected CDC staff. Her refusal cost her the job. Her firing triggered a mass exodus of the CDC’s top leadership, including experts in vaccines, infectious diseases, and public health data—leaving the agency leaderless during a time of growing health threats.
Senators from across the country, including Michael Bennet, Jon Ossoff, Ed Markey, Angela Alsobrooks, Maggie Hassan, Lisa Blunt Rochester, and Bernie Sanders, have spoken out. They’re calling for RFK Jr.’s removal, warning that his actions are endangering public health and threatening the CDC’s core mission.
This isn’t just a Washington power struggle—it’s a public safety crisis. Under Kennedy’s leadership, the Department of Health and Human Services has:
Fired trusted scientific advisors
Slashed $500 million in vaccine research
Elevated conspiracy theorists over credible experts
And now, ousted a director who tried to protect science from politics.
We are calling on President Donald Trump and Congress to remove RFK Jr. from his post as Secretary of Health and Human Services.
If they fail to act, they will be complicit in further degrading the agencies tasked with protecting millions of Americans.
Public health should never be used as a political weapon. The lives and trust of the American people are on the line.
