Fight for the INNOCENT People Incarcerated, here is Jonas Haro's Story....
The Issue
LETS TAKE A STAND AGAINST CORRUPTION AND WRONGFUL ARRESTS!!!! Help Me Clear the Name of an Innocent Man! Here is his story....
Jonas Haro was found guilty by a jury in 2008 of attempted murder, a crime he DID NOT COMMIT here is how it happened:
A party at a Berwyn bar named Fuggedaboudit where an altercation with 2 off-duty Chicago Police Officers occurred, Pat McCormack and Michael O'Donnell, they were drinking at the bar when a girl approached them about a man which started an altercation with the 2 off duty officers. They asked the man to leave, whom later identified himself as Joey Montoro, the girl was never identified or questioned by the police. When it was closing time the 2 police officers chased Joey into the nearby alley where they started shooting at him and another man named Joseph Ayala, whom was arrested on site later for the crime. An investigation was opened and 2 men were arrested and Jonas was one of them but wasn't even at the scene of the crime. During the investigation ballistics did not match the statements from the 2 off-duty officers.
Joey admitted being involved in the shooting in 2012 when he submitted a statement confessing to the shooting because Joey is the one who committed the crime. A hearing began in 2016 but that's when Joey Plead the Fifth because his father Roger Montoro, who is a Berwyn Police Officer, told Joey to Plead the Fifth because his confession would hurt his career if Joey went ahead and continued to confess to the shooting and convinced Joey to plead the fifth. Joey was coached by his father who pinned his crime on Jonas. Joey's father helped cover up his crimes for years and used his badge to get his son out of trouble in the past.
Several members of Jonas' family testified that he stayed home on the evening of December 4, 2004. When they heard gunshots nearby, around 3:30 a.m. on December 5, 2004, each separately checked Jonas' room and found him sleeping. Jonas' mother testified that the Berwyn police frequently came to her home looking for Jonas every time something happened to harass him.
Jonas maintained his innocence and plead not guilty during trial, the reason he received such a harsh sentence of 45 years when found guilty. Joseph Ayala received eight and a half years for a guilty plea. When Jonas was arrested they found no gun and fell a victim to the system that has failed many people, especially in Illinois, where it ranks with the highest number of wrongful arrests and people sit in prison for crimes they did not commit. How many more families have to suffer because their loved one is in prison for a crime they did not do before we take a stand against a FAILED SYSTEM. Help me clear the name of an innocent man and spread awareness to police corruption! Please take the time to sign this petition to help free and fight for an innocent man!
Do These Officers Look Like They Follow Their Own Laws Or Break Them? How Many People have They Hurt and Got Away With It? How Many People are in Prison and Innocent because of these 2 Officers? How many more people will suffer if we sit by and do NOTHING?
