Robbins Island - The Bridge / Causeway

PETITION REGARDING ROBBINS ISLAND BRIDGE/CAUSEWAY
There are mixed views in the community about having a windfarm on Robbins Island, Tasmania, but we petitioners agree that a bridge/causeway must be ruled out.
The bridge/causeway is likely to cause changes to the natural processes of tidal water movement, erosion and deposition of sands.
This would change or damage the natural habitat essential for fish nurseries and in turn for a huge number of recreational and commercial fishers.
The area is the most significant feeding ground in Tasmania for the abundant shorebirds that live here (over 25,000 individual birds). Many of these shorebird species are endangered.
We believe the bridge/causeway will impact the peaceful campground and the boating and fishing in Robbins Passage and surrounding waterways.
This area is loved by residents of Montagu and many North West Tasmanians who regularly visit.
We call on all levels of government to refuse approval for any bridge/causeway in Robbins Passage.
