Justice for SSG. Raymond R. Martinez

Justice for SSG. Raymond R. Martinez
The Issue
SSG. Raymond R. Martinez was a perfectly healthy person who had served in the U.S Army Reserve for over 29 years. He also worked as a Safety Investigator for the U.S Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration in Laredo,Texas. His job was to photograph and label toxic leaking containers while wearing protection. He required safety equipment to protect himself against the toxic fumes of the substances that were in those containers. The problem is that his boss never ordered the safety equipment. His boss gave him and others excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't order the equipment. Ray's boss would always tell him that the "safety suit was too expensive because it had to be custom made" ! Raymond R. Martinez did this job without proper safety protection for 10 years. He inhaled toxic fumes one after another after another. One day his health deteriorated so rapidly that he required an oxygen tank and still went to work like that in order to provide for his family. His lungs were so badly damaged that he couldn't breathe well anymore. His wife and family did everything that they could to warn the proper agencies and to take care of him, but he ended up dying on August 1, 2009. The family was denied an autopsy and his death was ruled as "Natural Causes". This could not have been from natural causes when clearly it was from Gross Negligence for failure of his employer to provide him and others with proper safety equipment. His family has been denied answers, justice and benefits. Please help us to bring Justice to this wonderful soldier and his family!
