The issue

Every individual, regardless of their stature, deserves to stand trial for the charges against them. Golam Faruk Khandakar Prince, a former Member of Bangladesh's Parliament and former elected representative of Pabna-5 constituency and  an member of the Awami League, is no exception to this principle. As a staunch believer in justice, I find it disheartening that individuals charged with crimes are able to evade the legal system by fleeing the country.

Following the ousting of the Awami League government in Bangladesh in 2024, voices have called for accountability and justice. Golam Prince, currently residing in Australia, is facing serious corruption charges. These charges reflect a betrayal of trust bestowed upon him by the Bangladeshi citizens. Corruption erodes the very fabric of society and denies citizens access to fair opportunities and prosperity. It undermines public trust in institutions and cripples economic development. Therefore, it is imperative for Golam Prince to face the judicial process in Bangladesh and answer to these charges.

Bangladesh and Australia must work closely together to ensure justice is served. Extradition treaties exist to facilitate justice, and they should be employed to bring Golam Prince back to Bangladesh. This is not just a legal obligation, but a moral one as well. Let us stand united in our demand for justice and demonstrate that no one is above the law.

It is crucial that Golam Prince faces trial in Bangladesh. This sends a powerful message to current and future public office holders that corruption will not be tolerated. By signing this petition, you are not only demanding accountability but championing the cause of justice and integrity.

Sign this petition to urge the Australian authorities and the Bangladeshi government to take the necessary steps for Golam Prince’s extradition to Bangladesh. Together, we can ensure that justice prevails and citizens once again have faith in the integrity of their governance.
