Extend Access to BBQ Grills Year-Round at The Eagle Apartments

The Issue

I am a resident of The Eagle Apartments at 86 Fleet Place, Brooklyn, NY 11201, where BBQ grilling is more than a seasonal activity—it’s a cherished part of our community lifestyle. Many of my neighbors and I enjoy grilling not only for meal preparation but also as a way to connect and entertain. Unfortunately, current restrictions limit access to BBQ grills throughout the year, hindering this shared passion.

Year-round grilling offers numerous benefits. Beyond being a healthier cooking method—grilled food contains less fat and retains more nutrients compared to fried or baked alternatives—it fosters community engagement and encourages creativity in meal preparation. This is especially important considering the New York State Department of Health's 2019 report indicating that nearly 25% of New Yorkers are obese. Providing consistent access to grills can help residents adopt healthier eating habits while building stronger community bonds.

We respectfully ask the management of The Eagle Apartments to revisit their policy and permit year-round access to the BBQ grills. By doing so, you’ll not only support your residents' passion for grilling but also enhance their quality of life, promote healthier living, and strengthen the community spirit.

We urge all residents and supporters to sign this petition to help us keep the grills fired up all year long!
