Not Changing the American Flag to Manny Flag

The Issue

Our flag is not outdated; it is symbolic. It does portray a good message: red for the blood that was so valiantly shed to make our nation reality against tyranny, blue for the justice that will be served in our beautiful, free nation, and white for the traditions of our ancestors that made us who we are today. And it is not ugly, really who wants to see the face of a gross comic character on our nation’s flag? Our flag should not be for one generation alone, but for all Americans past, present, and future. Times change but our flag should be unwavering; a reflection of what the United States of America is and SHOULD BE.

The black top right corner of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid flag stands for BLACK LIVES MATTER, but what about Caucasians, Asians, Pacific Islanders, Latinos, Middle Easterners, and Native Americans? Do they not matter? Because that is what this symbolizes: that only African Americans matter. In America, ALL LIVES SHOULD MATTER.

The stars on the Diary of a Wimpy Kid flag are replaced with Manny, a graphic novel character. The symbolism of the 50 stars on the American flag is the unity of our states. What does Manny represent? A joke, maybe! The Diary of a Wimpy Kid series is hilarious and makes you laugh. Is America hilarious and laughable? It is not, so why should our flag represent something our nation is NOT? America is not a joke!

The red stripes of the American flag are replaced with yellow stripes of the Diary of Wimpy Kid flag. They symbolize joy, but how did we come to be joyful? Did America just happen? No, it did not. Brave men and women fought and still fight for it every day. How can we hope to have a future when we forget about our past and what it took to make our country reality? The United States of America may not be perfect, but if we don’t learn about and from our history, then how can we dream of our future if we are without a past?

The American flag should not change, so neither should our National Anthem. Why would we want Black and Yellow by Wiz Khalifa when we have the beautiful Star Spangled Banner anthem? Black and Yellow curses. America is for everyone, and this language is not appropriate for young children to hear, let alone sing with pride. Black and Yellow also has nothing to do with the United States of America when the Star Spangled Banner has everything to do with America. Why would we change our National Anthem when we already have an awesome one?

Generation Z is the future of America, but so is every . Why should Generation Z be the only generation represented? America is for EVERYONE! It is easy to come together with social media, so why don’t we come together for something worth fighting for? The United States of America. For our nation’s flag and for our national anthem. We will change the world, one proud American at a time.
