Australia: National selection for Eurovision Song Contest 2019
The Issue
Australia has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest three times since their debut at the 2015 contest in Vienna. The country's best result in the contest is a second-place finish for Dami Im in 2016. Australia has also finished in the top ten in its two other appearances in the contest, with Guy Sebastian finishing fifth in 2015, and Isaiah Firebrace finishing ninth in 2017. Australia will once again compete in the 2018 contest, this time selecting Jessica Mauboy as the artist to represent the country, with the song "We Got Love".
Speaking of Australia, maybe I should ask the country's broadcaster SBS to organize a national selection starting from 2019, IF Australia participates. If so, candidates down under will of course need to follow the rules:
1. Participants must be 16 or older to compete.
2. Submitted songs must not have been released before 1 September 2018.
3. The maximum length for each song is three (3) minutes.
4. The lyrics to the competing entries need to have a strong message.
5. There should be no more than six (6) people on stage during competing performances.
6. At least one songwriter must be from Australia. Participants need to be Aussie citizens as well.
7. Competing songs need to be as original as ever.
8. Although Eurovision allows countries to sing in any language, it's obvious that Australian entrants should sing in English.
