Establish a Bouldering Gym in Horsham

Establish a Bouldering Gym in Horsham
The Issue
I am proposing that we have a Bouldering facility built in Horsham
With our recent gold medal in the men's bouldering and lead final at the Olympics now is a good time to push for new centres such as this!
What is Bouldering?
Bouldering is rock climbing stripped down to its raw essentials. Leaving behind ropes and harnesses and just using climbing shoes and a bag of chalk over safety mats, your challenge is to climb short but tricky bouldering "problems" (a route, or sequence of moves) using balance, technique, strength, and your brain.
You don't need experience or lots of expensive kit to have a go - making it really easy to get into if you've never tried it before.
The climbs are high enough to be exciting, but not so high that they're hugely intimidating. Using safety mats means that the risks of falling off can be managed, and leaving the ropes behind means that you are free to concentrate on the climbing, not the equipment. It's just you, the wall, and your friends on the ground egging you on.
What are the benefits?
Climbing has tremendous health benefits! Bouldering is a mix of cardiovascular exercise, strength training, and problem-solving. Climbing walls 12 feet high may not look like a workout, but don't knock it until you try it!
Rock climbing can be quite a tight-knit sport by nature. For example, if you visit a climbing gym, you’re often sharing the same wall space with multiple people at once. And, as this climber has found, this can quickly lead to conversations and friendships being formed. I met one of my best friends at a climbing gym.
Having this facility will bring more to the local economy by bringing people from outside the town in and also give another sport for young people to get into and potentially inspire them.
Exercise is an amazing way to calm the mind, helping people struggling with mental health issues.
Conclusion
I believe that having a bouldering gym built in Horsham can only be a net positive.
Please support this cause and send it to your friends and family :)
Thank you x
