The Issue

In many states and counties, women are impacted by the gender inequality in schools' dress codes. Though schools strive to create self esteem, when girls notice that boys almost never get dress coded, they often feell that the dress code is unfair. According to a study, "The participants consisted of 72.6% females, 24.4% males and 3% that identified as another gender. According to another article, "Of the male respondents, 39% of the boys said to have been dress-coded. 79% of those who were dress coded were dress coded for wearing a hat, while only 21% of the dress-coded boys were dress-coded for 'wearing an accessory inappropriate for school'." Almost none of them were dress coded for wearing short shorts, short shirts, and showing skin and shoulders. Even though some girls must wear uniforms, the other girls get dress coded for "being distracting". In another experiment, out of 50 boys, 3 of them said they got distracted by shoulders, (and were most likely joking.)

If the dress code isn't changed in at most a few months, girls could develop many serious mental issues, such as: Anxiety, Depression, Embarrassment, and much, much more. Even though boys barely ever get dress coded, they should sign this petition because with the dress code being overly enforced, they can be known to "not care", and "be sexist".

Instead of the "fingertips rule" the dress code should be based on how short the short is from the seam down. For example:
