Equal Access, Equal Opportunity: High-Speed Internet for Rural America

Equal Access, Equal Opportunity: High-Speed Internet for Rural America
The Issue
People in Seneca, South Carolina—and tens of millions of Americans living in rural communities—are being actively left behind while the rest of the country moves forward. In 2026, families are still trapped with slow, unreliable internet that cannot handle online school, remote work or even basic communication. This is not an accident. It is neglect.
High-speed internet is no longer optional. It is critical infrastructure, just like electricity, water, and roads. Without it, students fall behind, workers lose opportunities, businesses cannot compete, and entire communities are cut off from economic growth. Rural Americans are paying the price for decisions made by corporations and policymakers who continue to prioritize profits and population density over people.
We pay the same taxes. We follow the same laws. We contribute to this country the same as anyone else. Yet our ZIP codes are treated as a reason to deny us access to the modern world. That is unacceptable.
This petition demands immediate action to expand affordable, high-speed internet to Seneca, SC and rural communities nationwide. We call for real infrastructure investment, an end to monopolistic practices that block competition, and accountability for providers who accept public funding without delivering modern service.
Access to high-speed internet is a right in today’s America—not a privilege reserved for cities. Rural communities will no longer stay silent. We demand to be connected.
