Bank staff at the University Hospital of North Staffordshire (UHNS) have been working relentlessly, contributing significantly to the valuable service offered to patients. However, it is unacceptable that these committed individuals are not receiving the 5.5% pay rise in line with contracted UHNS staff.

According to a Fair Work report, pay equity is a critical aspect of workforce motivation and overall job satisfaction, consequently impacting the standard of service delivered (Fair Work, 2018). Additionally, NHS England states treating staff fairly and investing in their welfare is fundamental to the NHS People Plan's aim of making the NHS the best place to work (NHS England, 2020).

The only fair and equal way to acknowledge their hard work and dedication is to ensure a well-deserved 5.5% pay rise, same as other contracted UHNS staff.
