Enforce Strict Regulations on Evo Car Share Parking in Permit Zones

The Issue

As a resident of the 100 block in the city of Vancouver, I have found myself in numerous conflicts with Evo Car Share when it pertains to parking in front of my property, despite owning a legitimate permit specifically for my residential space. This has been a recurring issue that has not only cost me additional unnecessary charges, but also, has caused undue stress and inconvenience. Currently, the city allows Evo cars to park anywhere, including zones where individuals, such as myself, have exclusive parking permits. This manifests in situations where I am unable to park in my own space, attracting fines, whilst Evo cars remain unimpeded.

Nevertheless, Evo Car Share does not promptly relocate their vehicles, exacerbating the problem for permit holders. This highlights an urgent need for the local authority and Evo car share to devise a mutually beneficial solution that respects the rights of private permit holders, while still maintaining the viability of car sharing services.

Concrete regulations are needed to generate a fair and balanced resolution. Instead of simply sharing the same permit parking pass that is also held by residential permit holders, Evo Car Share should introduce parameters that dictate how long one of their cars can remain parked in a permitted zone. Alternatively, they should establish zones of their own or work on a system which ensures that Evo cars are removed in a timely manner once a resident has flagged a problem.

It's clear that the current system needs an overhaul to protect the rights of Vancouver residents with residential parking permits. This petition seeks to ignite change that works to benefit all parties involved, and create a more organized, fair, and stress-free parking situation. Sign this petition to urge the city of Vancouver and Evo Car Share to establish clear, fair, and enforceable parking regulations.
