I am starting this petition to express my strong opposition to the Kids Off Social Media Act. While I understand the goal of keeping kids safe online, this bill unfairly restricts younger users by banning the use of algorithms for anyone under 18.

Many of my friends and I use social media platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok to connect, learn, and express ourselves. Without algorithms, these platforms would become much harder to navigate, making it difficult for us to find content we enjoy and interact with our friends. This bill assumes that all young people need extreme restrictions, but it does not consider that many of us use these platforms responsibly.

I believe a better approach would be to promote digital literacy and provide tools for parents and teens to manage their own online experiences, rather than enforcing a blanket ban on algorithms. Please reconsider supporting this bill, as it limits our ability to engage with the online world in a meaningful way. IT IS EXTREMELY UNNECESSARY TO TAKE AWAY SOCIAL MEDIA FROM KIDS AND TEENS JUST TO PROTECT THEM. THERE ARE DIFFERENT WAYS TO PROTECT KIDS AND BANNING SOCIAL MEDIA IS NOT A GOOD IDEA!!!!!!!!!!!
