The Issue

We are parents and carers of students at Highgate Wood School in Haringey.

Our children lost teaching days to strike action last academic year. They are losing more this year, with three more strike days planned imminently. Every lost day matters – especially for those sitting GCSEs and A-levels.

We know the financial pressures are real and we know teachers have legitimate concerns. We are not taking sides between the school and the union. We are taking the side of our children.

We welcome the fact that ACAS talks are ongoing. But weeks of negotiations have not yet produced a settlement, and with every passing strike day the cost to our children grows. Both sides are already in the room. The tools for a settlement exist.

We are asking the governing body, the NEU, and Haringey Council to find the compromises that make a resolution possible – not at the end of term, not before September, but now.

Every day without a settlement is a day our children fall further behind. Every strike day that passes is a failure that belongs to all three of you equally.

We are sending this petition to the governing body, the NEU, Haringey Council, our local MP, and the local press. We expect all parties to respond publicly and specifically about what steps they are taking this week to bring this dispute to an end.

Our children cannot wait. Neither can we.

Please sign and share this petition. Every signature sends a message that parents are watching and demanding action to end the dispute.
