End painful research on canines in Texas
End painful research on canines in Texas
The Issue
My dog Blue has been a wonderful friend to my family and I for almost a decade. She cannot consent to someone injuring her. Dogs and animals are valuable creatures and deserve to have ethical rights. TAMU has been exposed to conduct painful, unethical experiments on golden retrievers, beagles, and other canines. Since 2025 they have had legal restraining orders put against them from using dogs from ridgland farms. They conduct two categories of painful research, one with pain reducing drugs and one without pain reducing drugs. We hope to end both categories.
It's inconceivable to imagine the agony they go through in those laboratories, and it's high time we recognize their right to live free from harm.
In Texas, countless canines suffer every year in research facilities, subjected to painful experiments that they have not consented to. According to the Humane Society, around 60,000 dogs are used in research across the United States annually. Many of these animals are bred specifically for experimentation purposes. It's critical that we stand up for our four-legged friends who cannot speak up for themselves.
Not only do these practices cause immense suffering, but they also raise questions about the ethical implications of using live animals for research. Innovation in the scientific community has allowed for alternative methods, such as computer modeling and in vitro testing, which do not require animal subjects. These are not only more humane options but have proven to be more reliable in some cases as well.
We urge lawmakers in Texas to introduce legislation that bans using dogs in painful research experiments. There are ethical and effective alternatives that can replace outdated methods without compromising scientific progress. Ending these practices not only enhances our ethical standards but also advances the cause for humane and responsible scientific inquiry.
Please sign this petition to call for immediate action to protect dogs in Texas from painful and unnecessary research procedures. Together, we can make a difference and uphold the rights of voiceless animals everywhere.
