I am a passionate boxer who has been unfairly sidelined by Boxing Victoria due to my schizophrenia. This isn't just about me; it's about every athlete who has ever been discriminated against because of their mental health condition.

According to the World Health Organization, one in four people will be affected by mental or neurological disorders at some point in their lives. Yet, despite this prevalence, stigma and discrimination persist within our society and are particularly prevalent within the sports community.

Boxing Victoria's discriminatory practices not only violate basic human rights but also go against the spirit of sport, which is supposed to be inclusive and empowering for all individuals regardless of their personal circumstances.

We must challenge these harmful attitudes and practices that exclude individuals based on their mental health status. It is time for Boxing Victoria to lead by example and create an inclusive environment where athletes can compete without fear of discrimination due to their mental health conditions.
