Housing association tenants across the country are seeking the right to purchase their homes. This is a right currently enjoyed by council tenants under the Right to Buy scheme, but not extended to housing association residents. According to Shelter, there are approximately 2.6 million housing association properties in England alone (source: Shelter England). Extending this opportunity would provide these individuals with a chance at homeownership and financial stability that is currently denied them. We believe everyone should have an equal opportunity for homeownership, regardless of where they live. It's time for change; it's time for equality in housing rights.
