Eliminate Interprovincial Trade Barriers to Fortify Canada's Economy

Eliminate Interprovincial Trade Barriers to Fortify Canada's Economy
The Issue
For decades, I have pondered the puzzling reliance of Canada on external nations for the procurement of products and services we are fully capable of sourcing from within our own territory. This personal observation is reflected in many other Canadians' views and serves as the foundation for this petition. We find it crucial to demand the removal of the interprovincial trade barriers that impede our nation's potential for economic growth.
These internal trade barriers cost our economy an average of $50 to $130 billion annually, as per the International Monetary Fund studies. They heighten regulations, reduce competition, discourage innovation, and restrain our national economic growth. Significantly, they place us in a vulnerable position of dependence on the United States, which we could, and should, avoid.
We must make dramatic strides towards fiscal autonomy in the global market. It is time to advocate for true "buy local" or "buy Canadian" capabilities. The removal or substantial reduction of these trade barriers will bolster Canadian industries and companies. We will directly support our entrepreneurs, stimulate innovation, foster job growth, and enhance the living standards of all Canadians.
What we propose is not simply the dismantling of barriers but the erecting of new bridges of economic possibility. We urge our leaders and policymakers to consider this plea faithfully, and in doing so, side with an initiative that could redefine Canada's economic landscape for the better. In ensuring our domestic growth, we strengthen our national resilience. Sign this petition to support the removal of interprovincial trade barriers in Canada.
