Eliminate Horse Exploitation in Victor Harbor

Eliminate Horse Exploitation in Victor Harbor
The issue
An unethical icon: Victor Harbors picture perfect horse ran trams, tainted with a history of profit over morality: - Animal Justice Party South Australia
Clydesdales Horses. Majestic, aren’t they? Historically known as working horses, bred for their size and strength. But since when is historical tradition equal to morality? Using their breeds assets to benefit humans in monetary profit and forced to work through a toxic life threatening to animal's algae bloom.
So, I ask? Is it the 1920’s? surely there are more ethical, moral, and sustainable means of pulling a tram. They said humans themselves could pull the tram. Their desire for horse health and wellness is tainted by their priority to bring in money and tourists.
At Victor Harbor in South Australia, the ‘iconic’ horse-drawn tram is not a “charming tourist attraction”—it's a blatant violation of animal rights. The wellbeing of animals should never be compromised for profit. The appeal of tradition should never take precedence over an animal's dignity and safety.
Working horses face numerous health issue due to the constant exertion and stress placed on their bodies and minds. Horses are sensitive in nature, they possess acute senses of touch, hearing, and sight, making them highly attuned to their environment and the emotions of those around them.
In Victor Harbor, the tram's operation disregards modern advocacy for animal rights, putting financial gain above all. Such practices should be reassessed in light of contemporary ethical standards and compassion.
We would like to see this shut down. We used to have a ski lift on granite island, why not bring that back? and the tram be pulled by other power alternatives? Everyone talks about how humans can pull the tram when empty, but we nobody is talking about when it is full of people?
Sign this petition to support a future where animal rights are respected and upheld, making Victor Harbor a pioneer in ethical tourism.
