Support Bullers Wood School for Boys Planning Permission and Opening in 2016

Support Bullers Wood School for Boys Planning Permission and Opening in 2016
The Issue
Last week, on 5th January 2016 all parents who applied for a space for their boys in Bullers Wood for Boys received a very disappointing letter that the school will not open in September 2016 as originally planned.
No specific reasons were stated and no explanation at all why a planning permission for the new building was not approved and why an alternative temporary site has not been found.
Some history bellow and the letter below the page:-
London Borough of Bromley is popular with the excellent schools amongst Central and Greater London. Furthermore, I know friends and colleagues who are re-locating from Central London to Bromley for the lovely green areas, people and schools. It is such a great borough to live in.
There are wonderful primary state schools in Chislehurst and Bickley, however there is only one outstanding non-independent secondary school which is Bullers Wood for Girls and no same option for the boys. There are selective (and highly selective) grammar schools in Bromley, however they are located in Orpington and Sidcup. Pupils can travel to Sidcup and Bexley for the Bexley Grammar schools and also to Dartford and Tonbridge, but it is a long commute in most of the cases, 40 – 50 minutes at least or even more than an hour from Bickley and Chislehurst and some areas in Bromley.
In July 2015 Bromley Local Authority Planning Department put forward a proposal to re-designate land for educational purposes. St. Hughes Playing Fields was one of the key sites put forward.
This is a convenient and spacious land to accommodate Bullers Wood School for Boys and not far to the girl’s school.
Bullers Wood School for Girls has an excellent reputation and significantly oversubscribed. It is also a school with High Performing Specialist School status (HPSS) and three specialisms – Language College, Vocational and Raising Achievement Partnership Program (RAPP). This makes it as the only secondary comprehensive option competitive to the grammar schools in Kent and Bexley.
WE NEED AN OUTSTANDING STATE SCHOOL FOR OUR BOYS.
I attended Bullers Wood School for Boys’ open morning in September 2015 and the hall was full with people who would like to send their sons to study there. It was a great success. Friends and neighbours have confirmed that if possible this school will be their first choice, some of them have daughters who are attending or have completed Bullers Wood School for Girls.
The school offers a vast variety of activities to students as follows:-
Art Club • Athletics Club • Badminton • Book Club • Cantabene • Concert Orchestra • Cricket Club • Cycling Club • Dance • Drama • Fencing Club • Film Club • Flute Choir • Football • Gospel Choir • Gymnastics • Hockey Club • Netball • Textiles Club • Ultimate Frisbee • Rounders Club • Running Club • Soul Band • String Orchestra • Swimming Team • Training Club (fitness) • Trampolining • Wind Band • Zumba
At the last Ofstead report in 2011 for Bullers Wood School for Girls received an outstanding status, continuing investing in People, inspirational and welcoming, inclusive, progressive and developmental school.
Please support my petition that the decision makers have to re-instate the process and offer temporary building for the school to open in September 2016.
Thank you.
ou would like the decision to be reviewed and re-submitted by the Education Funding Agency: Lord Nash, the Minister responsible for schools and Bromley Planning Department.
