Imagine this: It’s 2nd hour, and your sitting in geography. “Now, open your Chromebooks and get started on the research we begun yesterday.” Easy enough, right? No. You pull open a new tab and start your research. Great, thousands of results! You click on one, and before you can blink “Access to the requested website had been restricted due to its content.” Frustrated, you go back to the results and click on a new result. “Access to the requested website has been restricted due to its content.” Ugh! What a nightmare. Finally, as a last resort, you pull up Wikipedia which is the last place the teachers want you to go but what else can you do when Iboss limits your every action? Unfortunately, this is a reality that every student has to face on a daily basis. With iboss constantly trying to block even educational websites, how are you going to get any of your research done? I am honestly baffled that schools are still using this extension to block websites. There are many different options out there, yet schools choose the one that works like a virus. With a 1 star review on the Chrome Web store, how could schools even consider using this application? For one, you’re taking an already slow running laptop and throwing practically a virus on it. I don’t want Iboss removed so we can play games, I want Iboss removed because it makes doing research for projects an absolute nightmare. Iboss makes the Chromebooks run so slow because while you’re trying to do your work, Iboss is rapidly trying to block websites you’re not even on. Not to mention the fact that Iboss blocks websites the school itself uses. Another example where I boss got in the way was when I was trying to do some research on another country for history class. It took me forever to even find a website related to what I was looking for, but when I finally did, it was blocked! All because the website domain contained “.lu” Are you kidding me? It took me so long to try and find the information I needed and when I did, It was blocked because it had a domain that was representing the country I was doing research on! Finding another extension would even be helpful. I genuinely just want this clunky virus off my computer. Iboss is just a pain all around, especially when Chromebooks run slow already. I am thankful for our school-issued Chromebooks and that we are privileged enough to have them, but when you take something awesome and ruin it with a terrible controlling virus, there’s really no point. There are many options out there to choose from, besides this one that runs like a virus. If you read the entire thing, thank you so much.
