Good Evening Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters
I hope that this Update finds you well and that the Covid 19 Lockdown has not been too hard on you and your families. These are very trying times indeed and I hope and pray that this lockdown ends soon.
LEPPINGTON STATION UPDATE 15th MARCH TO 14th MAY
Back in March the visit to Leppington Station by the Department of Transport (DoT) communications team was little more than an information gathering and a PR Exercise by the State Government, in my opinion. That has proved to be the case as all that has happened is that the DoT has given the go ahead for Design Plans to be commenced. An approval that is not really an approval.
The benefit was that many residents, commuters, petition supporters and I provided feedback regarding the Car parking Chaos at Leppington Station there was little detailed information provided by Department of Transport.
Feedback provided to Department of Transport representatives included requests for
* A defibrillator at the station
* Motorbike spaces
* A better kiss and drop zone
* Information on the Temporary Carpark to be provided during construction
* Pedestrian Crossing on Rickard Rd
* A nightride bus service
* A covered walkway from the multi level car park to the Station.
Department of Transport representatives advised that the project is yet to have plans approved and while funding is available it still hasn't been specifically allocated in the budget there are many unanswered questions.
Remember that we have heard promises from the Government before so the pressure must continue until the project is delivered not just that promises are made.
I am at least optimistic that things have started to progress however the details must be provided, remember that this is all still in the promise / planning stage.
The Plans still need to be finalised and approved.
The Funding needs to be officially allocated in the next budget.
The location for the Temporary Carpark still needs to be agreed on.
Leppington Station Project status 5th May 2020
Transport for NSW has approved the Leppington Commuter Car Park project.
The approval follows community consultation on the concept design in March 2020 and preparation of the Review of Environmental Factors and Determination Report.
RMS state that the detailed design of the car park is beginning in May and still indicate that Major construction of the new commuter car park is planned to start mid-2020 and finish mid-2021.
Personally I don’t see how this will be possible as the Plans still require either Council or State approval and the funding needs to be formally approved in the State Budget.

EDMONDSON PARK UPDATE 15th March to 14th May 2020
Back in February I emailed the Andrew Constance together with the 5 local state MPs and asked Melanie Gibbons to reply.
No replies were received in March 2020 and frankly I no longer expect any replies – which is disappointing.
In March Anaulach Chanthivong lodged questions in Parliament and received the condescending reply from Andrew Constance Minister for Transport and Roads.
In April 2020 the Department of Transport issued Concept Plans out for Community review with Submissions. It was all done online as the Covid 19 Lockdown restrictions were in place.
Transport for NSW issued the concept design and plans of the new car park with community consultation occurring between 26 March – 10 April.
Edmondson Park Project Status 14th April 2020
There has been not further update on progress since the closing date for comments on the Concept Plans. The next step is for DoT to approve the project and authorise the design Plans to be commenced.

HARD COPY PETITION PROGRESS
After a great start to the Hard Copy Paper Petition with 2200 signatures obtained over the first 3 weeks the Covid 19 Lockdown has taken it’s toll and no further signatures have been obtained during the Lockdown
I continue to campaign for #MoreParkingNow with my new petition for 2020 calling for the extension of the South West Rail Link to new Airport so we can have 5 stations from Edmondson Park and a total of 10,000 Carparking spaces between them which would provide some relief from the Carparking Chaos that we have been experiencing for years now once the restrictions are lifted.
POINTS TO NOTE
We need 10,000 signatures to call for the South West rail link to be extended to the Airport and only have 2,000 so far.
IF everyone who signed the paper Petition could take a signing sheet and bring back 10 signatures that would be great.
IF YOU EMAIL ME AT MICHAEL.INDEPENDENT1@GMAIL.COM I will send you a PM with the PDF of the Petition signature sheet.
Remember that this is all still in the planning stage.
The Plans need to be finalised and approved.
The Funding needs to be officially allocated in the next budget.
This is a great step forward but more details need to be provided about the where and when.
Remember that we have heard promises before so the pressure must continue until the project is delivered not just that promises are made.
I am still working on obtaining information regarding Edmondson Park station.
Your Help is still needed to collect signatures for the new paper petition to extend the South West Rail Link from Leppington Station to the new Airport now.
In a decade, Sydney will be home to an extra 1.3 million people. How we accommodate them is causing angst in our suburbs and presents a huge challenge to government
That is why I have changed the Car Parking Crisis Petition to ask for an extension of the South West Rail Link from Leppington Station to Airport with at least three stations NOW.
