Good Afternoon Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters
In this Update I cover
1) Answers to Questions
2) The Leppington Station Update
3) The Edmondson Park Station Update
4) The 2020 Paper Petition Update
Great news , there is movement at Leppington Station with regard to the additional Car Parking Spaces promised by the NSW Liberal Government before the last election in March 2019.
Answers to Questions
While we are still waiting on answers to questions sent to Melanie Gibbons Liberal MP for Holsworthy and Peter Sidgreaves Liberal MP for Camden on facebook in December 2019 and email to them in February 2020.
Based on the reply from Andrew Constance Minister for Transport to Anoulack Chantivong Labor MP for Macquarie Fields I am not optimistic of receiving a reply any time soon or if ever.
I did manage to get the answers to some of the questions regarding Leppington Station from “Ben” the Deputy Director of Communications from Department of Transport on Thursday afternoon
Q1) Will you provide temporary Car parking spaces to alleviate the existing overflow of cars and to replace any existing Car parking Spaces that will be lost during Construction?
Answer NO and YES
Q2) Where will the new Carpark be located?
Answer – At the Bottom of the Northern (Bringelly Road) Side Carpark
Q3) When will work actually start on the new Carpark?
Answer Expected time is Mid 2020
It appears that the #9News story about the continuing Car Parking Chaos at Leppington Station in February triggered some urgency (could it be the Liberal Party is worried about the impact of the ongoing Car Parking Chaos on the upcoming Council Elections?) see the link to the video which you can share below

2) LEPPINGTON STATION REVIEW
While I again welcome the announcement that Leppington Station is going to have 1000 car parking spaces provided by the NSW State Government (which should have been provided initially) it doesn't solve the problem and ongoing issue of population growth which will only continue to increase demand. The South west rail link needs to be extended from Leppington Station to the new Airport ASAP.
From Department of Transport
Planning is underway to build a new multi-storey commuter car park at Leppington Station as part of the NSW Government’s Commuter Car Park Program.
This project will deliver up to 1,000 additional parking spaces for transport customers, and is expected to be completed by mid-2021.
Key Points
a multi-storey car park with up to 1,000 additional parking spaces
free parking for up to 18 hours with Transport Park&Ride
additional accessible parking spaces
lift access
road pavement and pedestrian pathway upgrades
CCTV, lighting and wayfinding for improved safety and security
provision for electric vehicle charging spaces and motorbike parking is also being assessed.
Project Status
Planning is underway to deliver up to 1,000 additional parking spaces at Leppington Station for improved customer experience and accessible public transport infrastructure.
Transport for NSW has been working to progress the concept design and plans of the new car park with early investigation work occurring in January.
The community are invited to provide their feedback on the concept design by emailing projects@transport.nsw.gov.au.
If you would like to speak to the project team, please call 1800 684 490. Alternatively you can visit our drop in sessions at the station between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on Thursday 12 and Tuesday 17 March.
Feedback from the community will help inform the Review of Environmental Factors, which is the formal planning document for this project. We will notify the community when it will be available to view here on our website.
Subject to design and approval, construction of the new commuter car park is planned to start around mid-2020 and finish mid-2021.
During construction some existing car spaces will be unavailable in order to complete the work safely and alternative temporary parking will be available to offset unavailable spaces.
I will continue to keep you informed about the project through regular updates here.
3) EDMONDSON PARK UPDATE
Even with Andrew Constance advising that the Information is available to the Public There is no change regarding Edmondson Park Station since December 2020 - still working on the plans apparently.
I was advised by a Department of Transport representation "Ben" that information is forthcoming but then so is Christmas. Again I ask could that be because it is situated in a the Labor Party Electorate of Macquarie Fields while Leppington is in the Liberal Party Electorate of Camden and the NSW State Government are playing favourites?
4) THE 2020 10,000 SIGNATURE PAPER PETITION
I launched the new paper petition to extend the South West Rail Link from Leppington Station to the new Airport now not in 2056 four weeks ago as I really believe after 2 years of campaigning, that adding extra car spaces is not the solution to the ongoing Car Parking Chaos problem.
We need 10,000 hardcopy Signatures on the paper petition to trigger a debate in Parliament and with your assistance I have collected 2100 signatures in the last 4 weeks and I need MORE HELP from commuters and Petition Supporters
If everyone who has signed the Petition so far could get just 5 signatures each we would reach our target easily.
You can email me for a PDF copy of the Petition signing sheet at Michael.independent1@gmail or message me via my Facebook Page www.facebook.com/Michael.Independent
Anybody in NSW who is a voter can sign so you can get as many family members, friends, neighbors, clients and work mates to sign and then you can post it back to me or email me to arrange a collection.
I would encourage as many people as possible to lodge Submissions with their suggestions and ideas to the Department of Transport via their email projects@transport.nsw.gov.au
Remember that there is another Information Booth to be held by Department of Transport Staff on Tuesday the 17th March from 4.30 to 6.30 PM
I will send another Update mid to late next week regarding Submissions and with a cut and paste version that you can use.
Plese remember to keep sharing the online Petition it would be great to get 10,000 online Signatures also as the media like the online version.
#MoreParkingNow, #Project, #PublicTransport, #Rail
Yours Sincerely
