Good Evening Fellow Residents, Commuters and Petition Supporters

In this Update I cover the the Latest News regarding Edmondson Park Multi Level Carpark

The email that I received from Transport for NSW on the 22nd May 2020 in part reads…..

Dear Michael,

"Transport for NSW is pleased to inform you that plans for a new multi-storey commuter car park with up to 1,000 additional spaces at Edmondson Park Station are now approved."

"Work on the detailed design of the multi-storey car park will begin soon and construction is due to start mid-year"

But the approval is only be from Department of Transport to proceed and have detailed Construction Plans prepared.

The Detailed Construction Plans will still need to be approved but as the is a Review of Environmental Factors (REF) in place this replaces the need for the usual planning approval the Council DAor State Planning process.

The plans will still need to go to tender with a scope of works document.

Funding will also come from funds that have been allocated into a funding pool

And finally, then construction will start.

Personally, I am sceptical that Construction will start by mid 2020 IF by Mid Year they mean June 30 or that the finish date will be mid 2021 as promised (but will be happy if I am proved wrong).

And also there have been no real details released regarding the temporary Carpark yet either.

Other POINTS TO NOTE

We need 10,000 signatures to call for the South West rail link to be extended to the Airport and only have 2,000 so far.

IF everyone who signed the paper Petition could take a signing sheet and bring back 10 signatures that would be great.

Remember that this is all still in the planning stage.

The Construction Plans need to be finalised and approved.

Tenders need to be called for and approved

This is a great step forward but more details need to be provided about the where and when.

Remember that we have heard promises before so the pressure must continue until the project is delivered not just that promises are made.

I am still working on obtaining information regarding Edmondson Park station temporary Car parking provisions.

Your Help is still needed to collect signatures for the new paper petition to extend the South West Rail Link from Leppington Station to the new Airport now.

In a decade, Sydney will be home to an extra 1.3 million people. How we accommodate them is causing angst in our suburbs and presents a huge challenge to government

That is why I have changed the Car Parking Crisis Petition to ask for an extension of the South West Rail Link from Leppington Station to Airport with at least three stations NOW.
