Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported this petition because together we have made a difference for the cat communities on the Hilton’s Waikoloa Properties. We are so very happy to report that David Givens, GM for the Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel, has returned the full-TNRM program to the Hilton Hotel. He also supports a long term vision for bringing TNRM programs to all Waikoloa Resort businesses. Please take a moment to thank Mr. Givens and Ms. Bobbie Alconera, head of the TNRM program for the Hotel.
We also are very happy to report that Management for Hilton Grand Vacation Clubs has reached agreement with Catsnip Hawaii (the local advocacy group) and a full-TNRM program has been established on each property, i.e., the Bay Club, the Kohala Suites and Kings’ Land. In addition to partnering with Catsnip, Management has committed to form a volunteer team member committee to oversee the TNRM program; champion feeding stations at each property; provide team members to stock the feeding stations once a day and will absorb the cost of food and maintenance of the feeding stations. They have also made a commitment that trapped animals will be handled and treated humanely and will be given to Catsnip for examination and/or medical treatment and that the animals will be returned to the area where they were trapped for release. We think that if HGVC remains committed to these programs on all properties that it will be a win-win for owners, guests and HGVC Management because the cats will be cared for and overtime it will reduce the number of community cats living on these properties. We thank Phil Murray for his effort to make this happen.
If you want to support the long-term success of these programs, you can make a donation to Catsnip Hawaii at www.justgive.org. Please be certain to include Hawaii when entering the name of the organization. Also, we plan to maintain our Facebook page www.facebook.com/hgvccats/ to provide updates on the cats and if you happen to visit and catch a glimpse of one of the community cats – please post a picture to our page.
Again, many thanks to all who have supported this petition and the efforts of those who have made calls or emailed on behalf of our endeavor.
