HGVC Waikoloa – Allow Animal Rescues to Help Your Cat Communities!

The Issue

For years the Hilton Bay Club supported a TNRM (Trap-Neuter-Return-Maintain) program for cat communities living on their properties by working with local non-profits to sterilize and feed the cats.   Kings’ Land, Kohala Suites, and The Bay Club recently adopted a feeding ban policy that has resulted in the starvation of many kittens and cats.  This little cat (photo taken on 2/17) is one of the many that became dependent on their care and that now has no hope of survival. In fact, the Hilton refused access for a local resident to rescue this starving cat.

The authors of this petition are a group of owners, potential owners, and guests of Hilton Grand Vacation Club that support TNRM; who have voiced our opposition to Hilton Management of their decision to starve or trap the cats for euthanasia; and who Management has tried to silence.

The Hilton Properties sit in a beautiful, tropical location and appear to be a lovely place to visit. This however is until you realize that helpless kittens and cats are needlessly dying.  If you are an individual who thinks that animals should be respected, valued and protected you will be unable to truly enjoy your vacation.

The situation is dire for these helpless cats and we urge you to join our effort to end their suffering by signing this petition and sharing it with your friends and families. Cats do not easily or quickly move on to search for new food sources. As they grow hungrier they move toward resort guests. Ironically, this is a key reason cited by Hilton Management for their decision to stop the TNR and feeding stations.

Waikoloa HGVC Management is rejecting support from local rescue organizations to introduce and/or reintroduce responsible and humane TNR programs at NO CHARGE to the Hilton.  Even at the insistence of owners they refuse to work with these organizations.

TNRM programs Work! They are scientifically proven to lower cat populations in communities across the country.  Disney’s TNRM program started in 1955 and today is a model program. Other resorts and businesses on the Big Island run successful TNRM programs for the cat communities living on their properties.  Two Mayors of Hawaii Island have declared this is the way to go.

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Let’s change the way The Hilton is treating community cats by demanding that they stop starving and trapping cats for euthanasia at the Humane Society, which is a high kill shelter averaging over 10,000 animals euthanized each year.
