Some Hopeful News and Some Same Old News

Hilton Waikoloa Village Hotel We are cautiously optimistic that the GM will return the full-TNRM program to the Hilton Hotel. We have been told that he has met with the leaders of a couple local rescues to lay out a plan for the program. We can confirm that the feeding stations in the parking lot are being maintained. However, we learned that the number of cats has been greatly reduced. We hope that we are able confirm the full TNRM program is operational in our next update. Hilton Grand Vacation Clubs Unfortunately at these properties it is the same old news. Nothing has changed at these properties since our last update. Concerned guests and callers are being told that the cats are being fed at all the properties and that they intend to put in a place a full TRNM program. This is of course, once they find the right rescue to work with. There are only 3 or 4 rescues on the Island that do TNR so again we ask “what is taking so long?” We understand that after meeting with one of the rescues, Phil Murray left for 3+ week without taking any steps to ensure that the TNRM programs he keeps promising are in place. We are completely frustrated with Corporate and Local Management because we have heard this for almost 3 months and little has been accomplished. Also, having 1 feeding station each at the Bay Club, the Kohala Suites and at Kings’ Land is simply not adequate. The Kings’ Land property spans approximately 30 acres, with the Bay Club and Kohala properties each being around half this acreage. This means that only a few cats are being fed and because cats do not easily or quickly move on to search for new food sources, they will remain at the guest rooms and restaurants. We think that if Management truly wants this program to succeed, they would have immediately started a TNR program at each property and there would be the appropriate number of feeding stations throughout each property to draw the cats away from guest areas. We continue to hear from local sources that it appears that the cat communities on these properties are being reduced. We fear that cats are being trapped for extermination and think that this may be the reason for the delay in moving forward with a full TRNM program on each of these properties. Also, if cats are being trapped, so are pregnant and lactating mothers, which means their kittens are also dying. For the litters of kittens that have been born and with no mother to care for them, their death is horribly painful. Please continue to share this petition because public opinion IS the only way to stop this travesty against these helpless cats. Also, please visit our Facebook page and share it with your family, friends and colleagues. And please KEEP CALLING to speak up for the cats and encourage Management to follow through with their plan to bring TNRM to their properties. At the Corporate level, Mark Wang and Kevin Spiedel have the power to make the TNRM programs happen. HGVC Corporate 407-722-3100. Call local management to let them know you want them to take immediate action to implement TNRM programs on their properties. At the local level Phil Murray of Hilton Grand Vacations is the individual in charge of the cat communities for all properties.
