Help The Future Of Bolton Wanderers & The Local Community!!!
The Issue
You don’t need to be a Bolton Wanderers fan to offer your help.
If you’re one of the 280,000 proud Boltonians or you are just a fan of football itself, no matter what club you may hold at heart, the stakeholders who care about the club and its impact on the community need your help.
So please get involved in showing your support for the club by signing this petition to make sure they end up in safe hands, protect all the stakeholders and the community of Bolton and the future of this famous, proud football club.
Our History:
Bolton Wanderers are one of the oldest football clubs in existence and were one of the founding members of the football league back in 1888. They have a rich and proud history and have been involved in three of the most famous FA Cup finals ever; The White Horse Final, The Nat Lofthouse Final and The Stanley Matthews Final.
It is with great sadness that we are now seeing the club go through such troubling times, whether it was due to the board’s lack of foresight and financial planning, living beyond their means or just plain bad luck, loyal supporters have had to stand back and watch the clubs history, heritage and proud traditions be compromised to the extent that their very existence is under grave threat.
Supporters Trust:
Fortunately, a loyal group of supporters could stand back no more and have set up a Supporters Trust in order to help try and guide Bolton out of this situation and currently have over 5,000 active members, with this number growing every day. This letter is to ensure that as many people as possible are aware of the situation, join together and make an appeal to try and make sure that the preferred buyer will not only pass The FA’s Fit and Proper Test as defined here in The Guardian -http://www.theguardian.com/football/2009/oct/07/fit-and-proper-person-test but also the fans Fit and Proper test. By this we mean that Trevor Birch, who has recently taken over as Bolton’s financial advisor and is overseeing the negotiations with interested parties who wish to buy the club, chooses the right people with not just the clubs best interests at heart, but the fans, the local businesses and the town’s population.
We the undersigned ask you Eddie, as the owner and supporter of the club we all love, that they are not sold off to some go lucky investor or speculator.
We ask that you engage with the Supporters Trust, which now is supported by over 4,700 Wanderers supporters, to ensure that they are involved in the future running of the club in some way. www.bwfcst.co.uk
