Bill Stricker Court at East Union HS (East Union HS - Manteca, CA)
The Issue
Bill Stricker is a striking man standing at 6' 8" tall. He has a deep voice that matches his large stature. However, the biggest attribute Bill Stricker possesses is his heart. He cares deeply for others and his many years of service at East Union High School have led to an ever-lasting impact on the local community and beyond. As a Basketball coach and Athletic Director Bill put people first, leading as a mentor. While he had a great share of success as a coach on the court, he prided himself on growing character in his athletes and students. Competing and working towards winning was important, but creating a legacy where character counts is where Coach Stricker takes the most pride. The following links stand as more examples of who Bill Stricker was and still is as an asset to the community:

Coach Stricker is still active in the community through work at his church and an effort to stay involved with local youth basketball. He works with individuals from Lincoln High, Delta JC, and even East Union's oldest rival MHS, because to him it's about impacting lives.
Ask Bill how proud he is of Scott Brooks being an NBA coach and he doesn't talk about the accomplishments on the court. Instead Bill first talks about the leader Coach Brooks is for his team, the effort he puts forth for the team’s community and lastly the effort Scott puts to keep his family a priority.
To sum it all up Bill Stricker is a man who put focused effort in having an impact on people. His caring and leadership has changed countless lives and thus stands as a symbol of what coaches, educators and mentors should strive for. Stricker Court in Bill's memory at East Union would be a physical reminder of those qualities and their long-lasting tradition at East Union High School. East Union would be blessed to have the honor and Bill couldn’t be more deserving. Let's get this done so future coaches, educators and leaders can be reminded what can be done when we focus our effort on caring for the individual.
