Andrew Jackson was responsible for the Trail of Tears, a series of forced relocations of approximately 60,000 Native Americans in the United States from their ancestral homelands in the Southeastern United States, to areas to the west of the Mississippi River. 
3,000 Native Americans died on the Trail of Tears.

Andrew Jackson was also a prosperous slave owner, owning as many as 300 slaves throughout his lifetime. 

This man should not be memorialized at all, much less have a school named after him. It’s highly insensitive to Black people and Indigenous people.
