The Issue
The final straw was Katie Rich's tweet about 10 year old Barron Trump becoming the first homeschool shooter.
It's not funny. It's in poor taste. And it's the latest example of how creatively lazy and uninspired the writing has become on SNL.
The show has been on for 42 years. Congratulations on the long run. But TV shows, and Congress, need term limits. And SNL is way past its prime. It's lost its edge. It relies too much on political humor, most of it biased.
America sent a message in November. The country is headed in a different direction now. And SNL runs counter to the political views of its viewers. The only way the show stays culturally relevant is when "highlights" from the latest show are played on other programs as filler.
Ms. Rich's mean spirited tweet, in the guise of humor, at the expense of a ten year old boy who is clearly uncomfortable in the public spotlight, is reprehensible. I'm sure her colleagues at SNL all got a great big laugh out of it.
Many of us aren't laughing. Do you want to be remembered forever as the show that got cheap laughs at the expense of the young son of the President of the United States?
Time to turn out the lights in 8H. Show's over.
